The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mr Atef Helmy has witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Vodafone International Services (VIS) to develop the capacity of Egyptian Calibers in the field of exporting technology services through call centers. The protocol reflects MCIT strategy, in cooperation with ITIDA, to pump foreign direct investments (FDI) to the information technology and communications (ICT) sector. The protocol also reflects the ongoing cooperation between ITIDA and VIS institution to support the Egyptian market, increase local demand and push growth indicators of the sector. ITIDA CEO, Eng Yasser El Kady along with Eng Khaled Hegazy on behalf of VIS GM, Eng Osama El Demerdash signed an agreement, with the presence of some executive leaders of MCIT, ITIDA and VIS. According to the protocol, ITIDA will support the training and capacity building activities for the Egyptian calibers in the field of call centers throughout a period of three years. On the other side, VIS shall provide around 1000 additional job opportunities for specialized Egyptian calibers. The support provided to the company includes the cost of training for 1000 additional employee for the call services and technical support center, as well as the cost of training for center’s employees to be hired to lower the rate of losing jobs to 200 employees. VIS, ICT services provider, submitted a request to ITIDA to support its center located in Egypt exporting services to markets worldwide, in order to benefit from the competitive advantages of Egypt, on top of which coms the Egyptian calibers highly proficient in various languages. In 2006, VIS started to provide outsourcing and IT services for Vodafone or others worldwide. Currently, the company provides its services through 2425 employees providing IT services in ten languages. By 2015, the employees number will reach 3425 as per the protocol signed today. They will provide technical support and customer services at the best international standards level for 80 countries worldwide.
