The Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Internal Affairs singed a joint Protocol to identify out-of-school children in Albania and register them in school. Albania joined the UNESCO-UNICEF “Out-of-school Children Initiative” in 2011 and is the first country in the region to sign such inter-ministerial agreement. The 3-MP is expected to pave the way so all offices of education and cross-sectors can work in an harmonized approach for the identification of out-of-school children not registered in school. “UNICEF will work to maintan the momentum and take forward this legacy to ensure that the political goodwill captured in the protocol is translated into cross –sectorial action by the Ministries of Education, Internal Affairs and Health, as critical steps to tackle the situation of out-of-school children in line with the action plan for 2015-2016 developed at the Bucharest conference in 2014” - said Antonella Scolamiero, UNICEF Representative.
