The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring events in Egypt and is ready to evacuate hundreds of Kenyans in the wake of deadly violence that has left almost 800 people dead in the last six days. Officials at the Ministry told the Nation that the Kenyan mission in Cairo was on high alert and would notify the government should the need to evacuate Kenyans arise. “If the situation gets out of hand and there is need to evacuate our nationals, the mission will notify us accordingly, we are all on high alert,” said the assistant director in charge of public affairs and communications at the ministry, Mr Edwin Limo.
