The Ministry of Gender, Culture, Children and Social Services has four departments that is Gender, Children, Culture and Social Services. The department of Culture: Embu County is endowed with archeological sites, tourist attraction sites,a rich history as well as talent.The Ministry is involved in the upgrading of the easiest route to Mt. Kenya that is the Southern route of which 15km has already being done. A museum is set to be constructed at the Embu Capital starting this year. It is set to archive the rich culture and History of the Embu people. A bi-annual newsletter and documentary showcasing the ministrys activities shall also be launched soon. The ministry also conducts beauty competitions and Music festivals. Currently Miss World beauty contest auditions are set to begin on August 27, 2014 in every sub-county. Participants are called upon to audition. Music festivals were held in the County last year in November as well as in the Month of May and June this year. Culinary arts, literature,performing arts, visual arts and Beauty Contests are some of the talents that the Ministry shall focus on during the oncoming County Cultural Gala to be held later in the Month of September. The event shall coincide with the UNESCO at 50 celebrations. Winners in the Ministrys competitions shall be trained on how to start Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as well be facilitated to attend National competitions. Tomorrow we shall focus on the department of Gender.
