The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has released a video on YouTube detailing the tragic story of Perri Heidemans death last April. Perri died in a fire started when she was playing with matches or a lighter amidst some round hay bales. The video includes the 911 call her father, Todd, placed, and the followup calls emergency services made as they realized it wasnt just a hay bale fire, but that a young girl might be caught in it. Her mother, Lonna (a 1985 LHS graduate), talks over part of the video as she reflects on that days events and the horror when they realized Perri was caught in the fire and subsequently lost to them forever. The video was put together to help prevent future tragedies such as the one the Adrian couple had to endure, with the hope that if you see your child a little too interested in fire, or playing with matches, that you can talk to them about the dangers or you can speak to professionals (800-500-8897) who can guide you through it.
