The Moon is in Virgo today, applying to oppose Neptune in Pisces by later this afternoon. Meanwhile the Sun/Saturn and Venus/Mars oppositions are growing closer to exact simultaneously...will be exact on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. The basic idea: many of us are looking at making larger, deeper, structural changes to our lives right now. The Sun/Saturn opposition is about limiting, changing, or restructuring things so that our energy and life force (Sun) is better conserved or applied (Saturn) to the things that actually bring us renewable happiness (Sun). In order to make these changes we have to be willing to sacrifice some of our outdated values and attachments (Sun in Taurus), which is an ego death of sorts (Sun/Saturn). Saturn gives us a bare minimum, realist look at what we can and cant do, what we are and arent interested in, and what is a good use versus a frivolous use of our time and resources. A foundation is being set for a new set of values, and the change is happening slowly and deeply. We cant change large value structures over night, and rushing to do so doesnt help anything. We also cant waste too much time letting go of the old objects on our metaphorical shelves and in boxes in closets. Hoarding the past is a distinct possibility right now...feeling owed something by the past is a distinct possibility right now. Both Saturn and the Sun have a relationship with the father. Pater. Patron. Pattern. We looked at this in yesterdays horoscope. With the two facing off, its about two different kinds of patterns, or a struggle to establish new ones in the face of old ones, or the struggle to maintain old allegiances while establishing new patterns. Each pattern is a host. Each pattern loves us as much as we love it. Each pattern comes to us as much as we come to it. Patterns call to us as much as we try to establish them. These are important things to remember because patterns, though they seem impersonal and structural, are more like living beings..like animals or gods. Remember there is only one zodiac constellation that is NOT an animal or person! This is where Venus and Mars comes in. As Venus and Mars apply to each other by opposition, in each others signs, we are being shown how patterns, patrons, and hosts, are not things that live only within ourselves. Our psyche is not inside of us, but rather we are inside of Psyche. Which means that the patterns we think of as ours are not really my patterns as much as they are living relationships. There is nowhere relationships are not. Relationships with our parents, to our friends, to our lovers, to our coworkers, to our clients or the people we serve, to the muses we work with creatively. We are a series of relationships relating. So best advice for today...be slow and mindful as you make personal or major life changes.Compassion. Sensitivity. Carefulness. And the recognition that there is not just one person making one change. We are all so much more than that. Prayer: As we make these changes, let these changes make us. Slowly. Carefully. And without the pretense of me and mine, getting in the way.
