The Morro Bay Fire Department may be changing their badges - TopicsExpress

The Morro Bay Fire Department may be changing their badges tonight, but we celebrate our City Hood in our front Lobby. This year, our Firefighters along with the other Morro Bay public safety agencies have been wearing badges celebrating our 50 years as a City. Tonight at midnight, our badges will be changed back to ones similar to what our Morro Bay Firefighters wore in 1931. In the front lobby of the Harbor Street Fire Station, we will continue to celebrate our City Hood with the two flags that flew above our Fire Station on July 1964. Both the California and the American flag are displayed high on the walls of our lobby. These flags were lowered on the day we became a City and saved by our own late Fire Captain Fred Oaks. Fire Captain Fred Oaks served our community in the 60s and 70s. The flags were returned to the Harbor Street Fire Station while the fire station was being constructed. If you get an opportunity, stop by and take a look at the Flags and meet your Firefighters. Pictured below are badges of your Fire Department, the American flag that was flown over the Fire Station 50 years ago, and a note that was found in the foldings of the flags. Happy 50th Morro Bay and Happy New Year.
