The Motorpoint British Supersport Championship recently headed - TopicsExpress

The Motorpoint British Supersport Championship recently headed north for Round 4 of the series, and what proved to be almost the perfect race weekend for Team E-Lites Kawasaki and Falkirk’s Tim Hastings. Tim’s home round at Knockhill has been a bit of a bogey circuit of late, with a series of bad luck mixed with technical failures, but after recent successful arm pump surgery and a first EVO class podium at the previous round, hopes were high for a change in fortunes. Tim displayed good pace from first free practice onwards and simply got faster and faster with each lap of each session, qualifying his E-Lites Kawasaki in P2 in the EVO class with a new personal best lap time of 51.360. In Saturday’s sprint race Tim got one of his fantastic starts to head the EVO field and lead every subsequent lap until the race was red flagged on lap 12 (of 18) for rain. As two thirds race distance had been completed, the result was declared and Tim had won his first British Supersport EVO race, setting another personal best lap time of 51.195. For Sunday’s feature race Tim again got another fantastic start and gained the EVO lead on lap 7 which he held until he ran wide at the hairpin on lap 17. He then held 2nd until the chequered flag and again bettered his personal best lap time with a 50.880. With a haul of 45 points from the two races, Tim has now elevated himself to a fantastic 2nd overall position in the Supersport EVO standings. Tony Hastings: Knockhill proved to be a fantastic home race for the team as Tim stormed to victory in front of his home crowd in Saturday’s sprint race (the only Scot to take victory in a British championship class in what was a very memorable weekend), and then went on to take a very creditable 2nd place in Sunday’s feature race. I am really pleased for Tim as he continues to improve his riding and is beginning to reap the rewards. It is important however, to remain focussed and to concentrate fully on keeping the momentum going. Tim Hastings: Knockhill was a great result, especially the win on Saturday at my home circuit! The bike is working really well and we haven’t really changed anything since when we tested at Snetterton at the start of the season. Now that I dont have the worry of arm pump, I’m just enjoying riding my bike and concentrating on going fast. I got an “in” sign on my pit board during one of my practise sessions and came in wondering what was wrong, only to be told nothing was wrong but that the team wanted to know if I wanted anything changed. Not since I had the operation on my arm have I been able to stay out on track for such extended periods and I’m just loving it. I do need to work out how to go faster on new tyres though because I’m sacrificing my qualifying position and making hard work for myself during the races but I’m sure it will come once I figure it out.
