The © Muhammad Haque Daily Ethical Commentary: The “Washington Post” has got to stop over-hyping its own “discoveries” [1] 1510 Hrs GMT London Sunday 09 June 2013 Is the "Washington Post" being over-optimistic again about "American public being concerned about PRISM" and other spying by the USA State and their still secret allied antidemocratic unaccountable invasive machines? The Washington Post must have stumbled over the "Watergate" scandal by accident. That is my view of its performance of the past 40 years. Ben Bradlee was hyped up to the skies as the grand Editor. So what did he show, what HAS ha shown, for that and other laurels heaped on him by supplicating masses of “Editors” from across the Empired world who had been hooked on the propaganda that the “Watergate Scandal” was uncovered by that bureaucratic newspaper as a result of a single minded ethical, moral and Constitutional dedication on the part of the paper that Ben Bradlee allegedly controlled or guided? The truth is that there could not be the ethical dedication to telling the truth against crooks of power across the USA that was attributed to the newspaper by the hype over the Washington Post in the early 1970s if that paper has later failed to live up to that image. And it HAS failed to live up to that image of the INVESTIGATIVE WASHINGTON POST all these decades! It has NOT investigated the illegalities, the atrocities, the violations that have been committed in the name of the American peoples! Where has the Washington Post been all this time when innocent hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands, no, more than that, the millions have been maimed, injured attacked and murdered across the world with the orders from the White House? In direct hits by the USA forces and in collaborative attacks with other, USA-aligned forces? Or where are those investigations, from the As to the Zs of each one of the orders, each ones of the decisions to aid, abet and to mount murderous attacks on the countries, societies, regions? Where are the reports of “Americans scrutinising, let alone questioning” those attacks? The Washington Post failed to report the truth of the antidemocratic, anti constitutional behaviour of successive occupants at the White House. The Washington Post has failed to tell the truth about Big Business or indeed about the agenda of the Military Industrial Complex that have been running the Empires over those decades. Against this background and record stuffed full of real scandals that the Washington Post has suppressed or failed to report, the “newspaper that allegedly broke the Watergate scandal news” has sunk into the obscurity that it had been submerged in until the events of over 40 years ago when the image of Richard M Nixon had dominated the Political USA.
