The Mumbai Film Festival 2014 got off to a star-studded opening today. Kalki Koechlin played witty host to an event that almost did not happen but for the generous support of the large-hearted city of Mumbai. In attendence at the opening night were Anupama Chopra, Kiran Rao, Shyam Benegal, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anurag Kashyap, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ronnie Screwlala, Amit Khanna, Deepika Padukone, Huma Qureshi, Sanjay Suri, Subhash Ghai, Rahul Bose, Tara Sharma, Ayan Mukerji, Gauri Shinde, Homi Adajania, Raj Kumar Hirani, Satish Kaushik, among a host of other celebrities. Lifetime achievement awards were conferred on two beautiful ladies: one from the east - the danseuse Helen and one from the west - the evergreen and talented French actress Catherine Deneuve.
