The Murder Mystery Continues ... Pert Fowir: Ivan: Economics doesnt quite work like that. 24 December at 14:13 · Like Angela: Yes, its a simplification, but as I said, any time Ive been in it has been busy. If it was quiet then lowering prices may well increase custom and possibly profits. 24 December at 14:25 via mobile · Like Garry: I earn less than the UK average wage so I am by no means rich and neither are lots of people I know, including pensioners like my mum, who have loved it everytime theyve been. Plenty of councils and public bodies throughout the UK invest in non-profit making culture and arts which create jobs, buy local produce, draw tourists and business conferences. As I said before though if you dont like it then dont go you can still enjoy the museum. Alternatively run for counicl and if people agree with you then you will be elected and can scrap it. 24 December at 14:52 · Like · 1 Wayne: The hays dock cafe restraurant is a profit based organisation that has to make a profit for the business to continue. The price of the food is based around the food costs and staff wages plus all the other overhead costs. If you look at oslas or montys or any of the hotels prices you will see not much of a difference 24 December at 16:38 via mobile · Like · 1 Ivan: Wayne - you are factually wrong. And, if you work there you should know. 24 December at 16:43 · Like · 2 Wayne: Enlighten me. What have I said that is factually wrong? 24 December at 16:46 via mobile · Like Ivan: Profit based When did Hays Dock Cafe make a competitive bid for its lease, in a prime site within the museum? If you look at the accounts of The Amenity Trust you will see that its business side makes a loss. 24 December at 16:55 · Like Ivan: Garry - and there are plenty of low income people who cannot afford it. Please remember that this building is primarily a public museum and a public archive. Yes, there is a lot of public funding for elite art forms such as opera and ballet, which most people do not go to. This is called a direct transfer of wealth from poorer poeple to richer people. This is what is happening at Hays Dock Cafe. I also take issue with your dont go if you dont want to idea for low-income visitors to the museum. Do they get to look through the plate glass windows at you dining? 24 December at 16:55 · Like · 1 Garry: This is my last post as you obviously have an agenda against them, which is your right, but I also have the right to ignore you and disagree with your opinion. I will save for months to go and as I said I couldnt this year and its unlikely I will be able yo next yeaar but Im glad that others can so as when I can afford it then it is still there. Montys, Hays Dock and Scalloway Hotel offer a quality of atmosphere, product and service that is worth saving for a year. Attacking places like Hays Dock is not the way to solve deprivation, ensuring people have the right to a living wage is. If they are like me and cant afford to eat there they go to bolts or just have something when they get home. Lifes to short to waste it hating those who have more than you do. 24 December at 17:21 · Like Ivan: Garry - you have every right to ignore my arguments. I do not have anything against rich people. Montys and Scalloway Hotel are not publicly owned, publicly funded or publicly managed. They are not charities either. I am not attacking Hays Dock Cafe. I am against a public facility not having the public in it. It is only with the widespread existence of the opinions you express above that elites can have their leisure activities funded at the expense of others: state-funded snobbery! 24 December at 18:21 · Like · 1 M: I am going to but in here with my opinion for what its worth.. its seems simply obvious that if its publicly owned and publicly managed and classed as a charity then the prices should cater for all the community and no one should have to save up for a year to have one specil treat in it, that my opinion anyway but then again Im a Socialist! 24 December at 18:31 · Unlike · 2 Wayne: Ivan for all you seem to know about the hays dock cafe, you dont seem to see the good side of it. There are reasons as to why each yeah the business makes more and more money yet still seems to be out of profit but in your knowledge you must know these reasons. I am presuming that you either work for the amenity trust or are some what miss informed 24 December at 19:05 via mobile · Like
