The Murrysville Stream Monitoring Group will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the East Suburban Unitarian Church, 4326 Sardis Road. The group was organized in April 2012 to track water quality in local streams and creeks. It is monitoring eight locations, but members hope to get more volunteers to expand efforts. Representatives from the Mountain Watershed Association and the Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring will be at the meeting to discuss their roles in water monitoring. There will be a hands-on demonstration of water monitoring procedures, and a film, "Triple Divide" will be shown. I just realized this is on the Thomas Merton Center website.
