The Myth of Governments IT System. I was stunned and stumbled with inefficient online system that was deployed by our government department. The system is used to insert data of schools activity record via online system. Logically this is how an online system either a web based or standalone server system works according to these consideration: 1. Accessibility. A electronic system should able to support redundant and massive accessibility in one time. The server must be available all the time and no down time should occur when the electronic system is deployed and passed the running test before it deployment. Therefore, the database system must be stable in the sense of it ability to receive and display desired data. 2. Robustness. A distributed electronic system (server and client) must be available at any time by any medium of input (desktop, Android and mobile apps). Downtime must be eliminated at a minimal period of time and not putting the electronic system un-accessible for days or weeks. The electronic system must be able to handle and process vast input at single time with no down-time. 3. Service An electronic system is developed by human being. In IT field, they are programmers, system analyst, database expert and system administrator. All parties who developed a system must be aware of bug of the system before it deployment. A role of a programmer is to write command or computer language to make it usable according to the interface designed by the system analyst or a web specialist. A database specialist will determine the best data storage system based on the number of user who will access to the electronic system. A system administrator plays a critical role in determine the accessibility of the system. He/she is the main user of the system in which he/she will guide the user how to used the system. He/she has to monitor the system performance and communicate to the system developer should there any error occur. Conclusion. A good electronic system must be accessible and available at all time to have more input that will produce accurate information. Hardware and software must be able to work compatibly so that down-time can be reduced. System development team must work together to ensure and electronic system is efficient by communicating with each other and aware of the system behavior and its goals. Critic: We cannot put a rotten potato in the refrigerator hoping that it will become a bowl of potato chips on the next morning. Good potatoes produces good potato chips provided that the ingredient to make the potato chips is right and the cook has good knowledge in making potato chips. We only have computer chip for a computer and not a potato chip.
