The Myth of the Returning Hero in James Joyce’s Ulysses. Terry Fitzpatrick Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays March 17, 19, 24, 26 Social hour 3-4 PM Tuition: 465 pesos or $39 US (including refreshments) Description. Joyces Ulysses is one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. Some say its one of the most difficult, but I dont agree. Its a funny book, a simple love story built on a complex view of love, a modern myth about heroism and married love (using Homers Odyssey) and, word-by-word and line-by-line, the most exciting novel ever written in English. You will not be expected to read (or have read) the book to enjoy this course. My goal is that you will want to read it - some day - and that you believe you can read it with pleasure.
