The Mzansi Spelling Bee is a national spelling bee with children from across the spectrum of South African society. We have children from urban, rural, villages and small towns. The Mzansi Spelling Bee seeks to expand its reach so that no child is excluded. The Mzansi Spelling Bee event coordinators help the spelling bee reach deeper into South African society – going to under- resourced schools as well as affluent schools and communities organising a show case of excellence and care to children. Event organisers will need to know how to deal with local press, manage the team, communicate with all stake holders, and organise spelling bee and spelling bee club events from local levels to the provincial spelling bee. Education Matric training in events management, project management or public relations Experience Sales experience or experience in working with people in a recruitment or sales. Training available. Skills and Attributes Computer skills Understanding of social media and managing information on social media platforms. Able to make presentations Self-motivated and resilient, with a proactive, can-do attitude in challenging situations. Team player and natural leadership An innovator with strong leadership skills who is able to take the initiative and carry through plans to a successful conclusion. Excellent organisational and administrative skills – able to update date base Ability to work effectively under pressure. . Flexible, with ability to motivate and delegate appropriately. Self-confidence and high level verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Good communication skills Full driving licence and/or motorbike licence Time management Project management Responsibilities Mzansi Spelling Bee event coordinators take on the role of planning spelling bee events. 2014 Mzansi Spelling Bee events will go from local school level, district level, provincial and national level. Mzansi Spelling Bee event coordinators have to create events that conform to a standard of excellence and care given to each and every parent and child. The spelling bee you will organise are more than school or children events, they are moments that will live with the spellers forever and so great care must be taken creating positive experiences. Manage the distribution of 2014 Mzansi Spelling Bee material to the spellers and participating schools. Make relationship with local news-papers and radio stations for the purpose of keeping them informed about the spelling bee and the local events. Keep Mzansi Spelling Bee website and social media platforms updated with spelling bee events in you district Write reports about the Mzansi Spelling Bee planning and field experience. To make presentations, address any concerns from participating schools. To provide schools with all supporting information for the 2014 Mzansi Spelling Bee. To ensure schools have all the necessary forms for application. Organise libraries to join the Spelling Bee Club. Support schools in setting up spelling bee clubs Help schools organise Wordnesday events. To make presentations for parents needing information about the Mzansi Spelling Bee. Fund raising and source sponsors Organise spelling bee events; school level, district level, provincial level and national level. Remuneration Salary for the position will be discussed with the individual applicants .
