The N3.1 billion Nanka/Oko landslide erosion project in Anambra - TopicsExpress

The N3.1 billion Nanka/Oko landslide erosion project in Anambra State being executed by the Ecological Fund Office in Anambra State is being probed by House of Representatives Committee on Environment. The Uche Ekwunife-led House Committee after an investigative hearing, expressed concern over the poor implementation and incompetence of the contractor handling the project. A breakdown of the money drawn from the Ecological Fund, showed that N2 billion was released to Anambra State government which is yet to be justified while another N1.1 billion was released for the phase 1 of Nanka/Oko landslide project in the state. Ekwunife disclosed that the investigative hearing was premised on several petitions sent to the committee. She thereafter issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Permanent Secretary of Ecological Fund Office to address the Nanka/Oko erosion menace. The lawmaker expressed dismay over the delay in the completion of the project awarded to Rhino Maritime Services & Construction Company since 2011 at N1.1 billion, with 12 months completion period. follow on twitter @anambrastate_ng
