The NBA knew Sterling was a garbage owner for some time. He ran - TopicsExpress

The NBA knew Sterling was a garbage owner for some time. He ran the Clippers like he ran his apartments: like slums. He silences all lawsuits against him by throwing money at it. The NBA didnt do anything about him until recently because he owned well...the Los Angeles Clippers. BUT THEN... The Clippers acquired Chris Paul and Blake Griffin and began to put together a formidable lineup, one that is currently in the Western Conference Playoffs. This is a place where Los Angelites are used to seeing the cross-town Lakers... BUT... The Lakers are coming off their worst season in years. Their owner, Dr. Jerry Buss is dead. Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest players in history is at the end of his career as well as coming off of an injury which Father Time may not let completely heal. The team is loaded with aging talent (with the exception of Nick Young aka Swaggy P), and their coach, Mike DAntoni, just quit. No one has any idea when the Lakers will return to prominence, so until then the Clippers will make for a nice placeholder in the L.A. market. But nobody would benefit from this team being ran by the human version of Jabba The Hutt, so it would be in the benefit to all if Tokowitz went away. With how swiftly the NBA is washing their hands of Tokowitz, and how talk of new ownership consisting of media heavyweights like David Geffen and Oprah are taking place, you would think it would be the endgame has already been written. Donald Tokowitz is forced to sell the Clippers and will make a fortune. He bought the team for $12 million and he can sell it for about $1 billion. Sterling The Hutt will be a rich man and can slither off into the sunset with his riches for the last decade or so of his life. The NBA will be rid of a buffoon, and replaced with a new ownership group that will do everything to keep a viable franchise in the Los Angeles market. an ownership group that if Oprah comes aboard, will have a Black Woman as one of its members, which will go far to making the NBA look like its doing everything in its power to diversify its ownership. Everyone wins. Someone mentioned that the bigwigs are playing chess, and to that point I agree. I just think the moves are different. Thats just my thoughts.
