The NCLA wants to thank State Representative Allen Peake for coming out to Newton County tonight to speak about House Bill-1. We had a great crowd of around 55 people (biggest crowd for a speaker, outside of a debate/forum). Great questions were asked by those in attendance. Rep. Peake answered all questions, as well as gave an excellent presentation in regards to this piece of legislation that will be before the Georgia legislature in 2015. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting, people from all backgrounds, mostly from Newton County, Democrat & Republican, were at the meeting tonight to support the Hopkins family, and other families that will be helped by the passage of HB-1. There were at least four families in attendance, that would be helped by HB-1 if passed. The Hopkins family, Hayden and his family, as well as two other families. For these families, as Rep. Peake said, we cannot move fast enough. Thank you to Mike Hopkins for speaking about his familys journey to Colorado and improvements seen for Michala, in a short amount of time of the cannabis oil treatment. He arrived back tonight from Colorado, at which time he will now commute between Newton County and Colorado until his family can come home. Again, we cannot move fast enough. Thank you to 11Alive & Covington News for coming out to cover the event, to help spread the word about HB-1.
