The NIV trademark is owned and controlled by Rupert Murdoch. The NASB has a copyright with the Lockman Foundation. Good News Publishers make money on the English Standard Version while the American Bible Society peddles the Contemporary English Version for profit. All require permission to publicly use their paraphrased or conveniently mistranslated interpretation. There are more; the list is endless and the ‘rights’ of the owners are sanctioned by the Library of Congress. The early versions of the KJV and the 1599 Geneva Bible on the other hand are in public domain and have no restriction on use, reproduction or earthly ownership. It is provable that they are closer to being accurate than the newer versions. A copy can be obtained at little to no cost and can be used (or misused) without prior permission. Although we may not be KJV only, we should live out KJV mostly. In the end it will be what has remained written on our heart that will determine any eternal authenticity; as others are reading and constantly reviewing our life. That kind of ancient script can never be sanctioned by government approval, removed from circulation nor can it ever be outlawed.
