The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife, in partnership with the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES), is offering the Sedge Island Field and Research Experience July 10-16 for students going into grades 10 and 11 this fall. During this residential research program students will learn field research skills that will lead them to conduct team research projects on the Barnegat Bay, culminating in a sharing session the last day of the program. The Lighthouse Center in Waretown and the Sedge Island Natural Resource Education Center, just off Island Beach State Park in Barnegat Bay, will be the research settings. The cost is $770 and includes all meals, lodging, instruction and equipment. Scholarships are available to help offset the cost of students needing financial help. Deadline to apply is April 18, 2014. More information, including the application form, can be found at njfishandwildlife/sedge_summer14.htm or by contacting Karen Byrne at [email protected] or 609-748-4347.
