The NMDA receptors stimulate a faster processing and increased - TopicsExpress

The NMDA receptors stimulate a faster processing and increased intensity creating a pain sensation as greater than expected for a given stimulus especially when the receptors are continuously activating, such as in the wind up or neuroplasticity sensory phenomenon. The pain response can be greatly enhanced during wind up as increased sensorial sensation can occur as result of wind up, which allows normal tissues to become extremely sensitive to pressure and the reason why they are not identified as painful.
