The NOAH movie comes out this week and there has been much - TopicsExpress

The NOAH movie comes out this week and there has been much discussion from the Christian cultural commentators, especially from the Evangelical camp, about whether or not people, especially Christians, should go to or even support people going to this film. Some are for the movie, others are not, and you can find some pretty solid arguments on both sides. Cru has some theologians on our team who were invited to an advanced screening and put together a film discussion guide to utilize a movie like this (theological flaws and all) to get into spiritual discussions with people, especially those who dont follow Jesus, based on the content of this film. Not to shove our faith down their throats, or to point out the Biblical inaccuracies (seriously, this was made by Hollywood, we shouldnt expect a film suitable for a Sunday morning service), but to engage with our friends about topics of faith, humanity, good and evil, and God. Imagine if the majority of Christ followers would take opportunities like this to build into friendships with people we know who believe differently than us, instead of ripping apart the films errors from a Biblical standpoint (which there are some). Maybe people would see this Jesus we follow (and us) in a better light and not view us as self-righteous theological snobs that cant find anything good about the culture that we live in. Feel free to read this article and if you choose to see the movie, to engage with those around you about the concepts and ideas in the movie NOAH...just probably leave the kids at home if they are under 18, I guess its a bit dark and violent! crupressgreen/using-noah-in-spiritual-conversations/
