The NPA should indeed be disappointed. According to news reports the NPA are feeling disappointed and are considering their options. Well, they should have considered their options 19 months ago and since the start of the Pistorius trial they have had plenty of time to redeem themselves and rectify the error of their ways so - Why only now recognize where they failed? Much like waiting for a big deal to come through in business and it collapses at the bitter end. Because they too have been on the bandwagon To say there has been a terrible error been made is the biggest understatement of the century - Actually more like a Miscarriage of Justice. Including the disastrous media, public feeding frenzy, a shameful response and total lack of control by all of the authorities involved. The trial should never have been broadcast on the world wide stage for all the world to see when their own house was not in order! Firstly, with the original charge for Pre-meditated murder / Murder. The state were going for broke. However, in all of the excitement and their own enthusiasm at such high a profile case, they must have thought all their Christmases had arrived at once. The State did not do their job professionally because the SAPS crime scene management skills were non existent therefore the state had very little or no evidence and what little evidence there was left was completely unreliable in court. On that basis the evidence does not support all the allegations then the charges must be either discharged or the accused be found not guilty. Secondly; The NPA should be feeling disappointed, infact they should have their tails between their legs, hanging their heads in absolute shame and the local citizens should be throwing egg in their faces because their senior staff and their investigating officers for the South African Police Service (SAPS) did not do their job properly to substantiate the charge for Pre - meditated Murder or Murder. How can they expect a conviction when they do not have the appropriate evidence. Remember on the 11th September when the Judge Masipa announced the verdict on all the charges, the state had very little evidence left after the Judge threw most of the evidence out! Furthermore; How can the NPA be relied upon in a High Court and how can the SAPS investigation officers be relied upon with these very severe in competencies?
