The NQAC participated in Fun Flight for the first time today and we are excited to share that it was a huge success. With 14 flights, 65 passengers and six aircraft there were a number of excited faces as passengers were taken on the flight of their life. Each flight lasted approximately 30 minutes with the passengers having the opportunity to see the great barrier reef, and what a spectacular day it was out there too! We must acknowledge those who very generously assisted in making today a success, and on behalf of us all at NQAC we express our sincere thanks for your help. It certainly wouldnt have been the same without your support. To the volunteers - the members of the american car club; Coco the clown; Jodie from Zoo to You, Players from the Northern Pride, members of the Cairns Custom Car Club, Cairns Taipans Basketball Team; and the Airport Fire and Rescue Team, thank you for joining us to make sure everyone had a great day. To the members and staff of NQAC who assisted on the ground, preparing food, cooking the bbq, airside marshalling, registering families, setting up for the day and to those who have worked tirelessly for the past months putting the day together. Most importantly though its the aircraft owners who very generously donated their aircraft and time to this fantastic nationally run event. Hugh and Maggie McBride and their Cirrus SR22, Nathan Bridge and his Piper Cherokee 6, and Murray Moule in his Eurocopter EC20, and additionally the pilots at NQAC who assisted with two of their Cessna 172s. A very special mention must be made to Hinterland Aviation who very generously assisted today with one of their Caravans, to all the team at Hinterland Aviation, and to Nikki their pilot today, thank you for putting smiles on the faces of many families.
