The NWS has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the green shaded area - TopicsExpress

The NWS has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the green shaded area through Wednesday afternoon. (Map number 1) Here is the official statement from the NWS: Flash Flood Watch has been issued for portions of the Denver Metro, Foothills, Mountains and Eastern Plains through Wednesday afternoon. Monsoon moisture combined with moist easterly upslope flow will produce widespread showers and thunderstorms into Wednesday. Amounts of 1-2 inches are expected across the area with some falling in a short period of time. Please note that this is just through Wednesday afternoon. Additional rains after this time period expires could bring the potential for more flooding. For example, the GFS (84 hour outlook) computer model has 3 to 4 inches of rain possible by 6pm on Thursday (map number 2) for much of the Front Range and Foothills. The red shaded areas are where it is predicting 3 to 4 inches of rain. This would include Estes, Lyons, Fort Collins Boulder and adjacent towns to the east. This may also eventually include Denver Metro. Many more updates coming this week as I continue to go through all of the computer models. The Flood Watch Network has been activated for this week.
