The NY Times tackled the Amazon -v- Hatchette squabble yesterday at nytimes/2014/07/13/technology/amazon-a-friendly-giant-as-long-as-its-fed.html?smid=tw-nytimes&_r=1 Although I found the coverage to be slightly bias against Amazon, they at least made an effort to appear objective. However, I dont think they really covered the core issues of ebook -v- print book pricing, or explained that readers are starting to demand lower prices for ebooks than for paperbacks or hardcovers. Thats the factor that legacy publishers refuse to face. Nor do they explore the impact of the indie revolution, focusing instead on comparing an Amazon Imprint author to Hatchette and other Big 5 authors. Nevertheless, its a valuable contribution to the discussion for those interested in this controversy.
