The National Brown Bread Baking Competition was last held in 1973... and is now back! Contestants from around the country gathered at An Grianan, Co. Louth for the competition, sponsored by Aldi Ireland and in association with the Irish Countrywomens Association (ICA) and the National Ploughing Association. Judges Edward Hayden from TV3, Eileen Brennan from NPA and Laura McHale from Aldi have chosen eight finalists to meet in the finals at the National Ploughing Championships on the 23rd and 24th of September. One winner will be picked from each day, and they will go head-to-head in the final on September 25th. Check out the video below! The finalists are Bernadette Daly (Limerick), Margaret Jennings (Mayo), Statia Ivers (Wicklow), Tina Boulton (Kerry) Betty Williams (Tipp South), Pauline Carney (Monaghan), Margaret Kelly (Westmeath) and Patsy Kenny (Galway). Well done!
