The National Export Strategy is hoped to be launched soon and workshops and meetings are ongoing to finalize the plan.To upgrade the Myanmar export quality, workshop on National export strategy was held in Yangon.The National Export Strategy was officially launched in 2013 by Vice President U Nyan Tun, with the Ministry of Commerce leading the designing process.Associate Adviser, International Trade Centre, Charles Roberge: “This plan will be implemented within 5 years and we hope we will be able to contribute to better lives of the producers in various sectors but also general people working in the export sectors in Myanmar.Official concerns and representative from local and international discussed about the 7 priority sectors and 4 supporting sectors included in the National export strategy.Myanmar exports since last year up to present increased by about 2 billion US dollars. The hope is to have this strategy sustainably support this growthDeputy Director, Ministry of commerce, Aung Soe: “We have already finished our designed phase. Already studied detail, discussion with the among state holders including the private sectors, relevant government departments and also from the Academic area. This is for the five year project .In this activities we need to do to boost our export may be we need the finance.”Exporters believe the strategy can promote the exporting industry.President, Myanmar Rice Federation, Dr. Soe Tun: We don’t have any strategy to promote export sector yet. But now, a strategy is being drawn up in cooperation with international organizations and we hope the strategy will make the export sector boom and develop.The exporters hope to find solutions for their challenges through the National export strategy.
