The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (S2S LRP) application cycle is now open! Eligibility is open to medical students (allopathic or osteopathic) in their last year of school who are planning to pursue a career in primary care, and are committed to working in underserved communities with areas with limited access to care. NHSC S2S LRP award recipients receive up to $120,000 for three years of full-time service or six years of part-time service. Upon completion of residency, NHSC S2S LRP recipients serve as primary care providers in an NHSC-approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) of greatest need. The 2014 NHSC S2S LRP Application and Program Guidance can be found at the following link: nhsc.hrsa.gov/loanrepayment/studentstoserviceprogram/applicationguidance.pdf. The 2014 NHSC S2S LRP application cycle closes on November 14, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., ET. The NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program is expected to be competitive. The NHSC anticipates making 100 NHSC S2S LRP awards for the 2014 application cycle. Applicants are encouraged to begin early.
