The National Hockey League has a pucked-up way of awarding points to teams. In non-overtime games, the winning team gets 2 points, the loser none. In OT games (there are no ties anymore), the winner gets 2 points, the losing team 1. It aint kosher to award more points in an OT game: The best strategy would probably be for both teams to sit on their bums through 3 periods--guaranteeing each team a point--, then fight hard in OT for one more point.
