The National Institutes of Health paid $10 million to develop and promote a video game about a young teen that must escape a town full of fat people. The game, titled “Escape from Diab,” simulated a “nightmare” fictional city where people were only allowed to eat junk food. One study showed that children who completed the video game barely increased the amount of fruits and vegetables they consumed daily, and that playing the game did not increase their physical activity levels. (Go figure.) Could this be considered a form of bullying? Another waste of taxpayer dollars?
