The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) and Facebook - TopicsExpress

The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) and Facebook have partnered up to make a privacy and safety plan for survivors. The most dangerous time for victims of abuse is when they are preparing to leave or have left an abusive partner. With the digital age we are now in, a significant part of our lives is online. Abusers use social networks to try and find their victims, or try to contact them. This is a concern for many survivors. Staying “offline” is not a solution we should be supporting. Abusers go to devastating lengths to isolate their victims from family and friends, and social networks can help survivors safely rebuild these important connections. Telling survivors to go offline further isolates them from the people who love and support them. The privacy and safety plan for survivors addresses privacy on Facebook and gives safety tips and options for when someone is misusing the site to harass, monitor, threaten, or stalk. Thank you Facebook and NNEDV, for the care and thought you put into making this guide, and helping to keep survivors more safe.
