The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is expecting a threat of thunderstorms, heavy rain, gusty winds, and minor coastal flooding on Thursday and Thursday night. Details for each location follows. Southeast Texas: Thunderstorms increase in coverage before sunrise Thursday morning, and will be a threat throughout the day on Thursday. A few storms will be strong to severe. Coverage will decrease Thursday evening. Rain totals will be 1-2 inches, locally as much as 4 inches will be possible. This could cause minor street flooding. South winds will gust in the 25-35 mph range during the daytime hours today and Thursday. Near the coast during high tide, minor coastal flooding is expected tonight and Thursday. Southwest Louisiana: Thunderstorms increase in coverage Thursday morning, and will be a threat throughout the day on Thursday. A few storms will be strong to severe. Coverage will decrease Thursday night. Rain totals will be 1-2 inches, locally as much as 4 inches will be possible. This could cause minor street flooding. South winds will gust in the 25-35 mph range during the daytime hours today and Thursday. Near the coast during high tide, minor coastal flooding is expected tonight and Thursday. South Central Louisiana: Thunderstorms increase in coverage by Thursday afternoon, and will be a threat through Thursday evening. A few storms will be strong to severe. Coverage will decrease by late Thursday night/early Friday morning. Rain totals will be 1-2 inches, locally as much as 4 inches will be possible. This could cause minor street flooding. South winds will gust in the 25-35 mph range during the daytime hours today and Thursday. Near the coast during high tide, minor coastal flooding is expected tonight and Thursday. Central Louisiana: Thunderstorms increase in coverage Thursday morning, and will be a threat throughout the day on Thursday. A few storms will be strong to severe. Coverage will decrease Thursday evening. Rain totals will be 1-2 inches, locally as much as 4 inches will be possible. This could cause minor street flooding. South winds will gust in the 20-30 mph range during the daytime hours today and Thursday.
