The National Weather Service in New York has issued a FLOOD WATCH for portions of Southern Connecticut which includes New London county and Old Lyme. The FLOOD WATCH is in effect from Thursday morning through Saturday morning. Rainfall totals of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches of rain are expected with locally higher amounts, possibly up to 5 inches. This will result in flooding of small streams...as well as urban and poor drainage flooding. Main stem rivers could approach bankfull. People living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. It is recommended that residents review their contingency plans with family and friends and to share the links for Old Lyme Emergency Management on Facebook and @oldlymeeoc on twitter for the latest information and updates. Further updates will be forwarded as the need arises.
