The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a special weather statement for the next few days: A cold front diving southwest out of the Canadian Rockies will bring much colder temperatures to the region (including Polk County and the Willamette Valley) beginning Tuesday. Many locations will experience the first freeze of the year Tuesday night. There is also a chance of winter precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and/or freezing rain late on Wednesday and into Thursday morning as a low pressure system brings moisture into the area on top of the cold temperatures. The chances for winter precipitation are greater to the north of us, but you should be prepared for possible winter driving conditions and all that comes with it -- including possible school delays and school closures. Well update the weather warnings as they are made available.
