Richmond (staten island) County in southeast New York... * until 445 PM EDT... * at 248 PM EDT...National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated showers and embedded thunderstorms producing moderate to heavy rain with rainfall rates over 1 inch per hour. These showers will slowly track to the north-northeast through 4 PM. Excessive runoff from this activity may cause minor flooding of highways...streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Most flooding deaths occur in automobiles. Turn around and find another Route. Excessive runoff from this storm will cause flooding of urban areas...highways...streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
