The National Woman’s Relief Corps was organized as an auxiliary - TopicsExpress

The National Woman’s Relief Corps was organized as an auxiliary of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), at their request, in Denver, Colorado on July 25-26, 1883. They were officially incorporated by an Act of Congress in 1962. The purpose of the Corps was to assist the GAR in its efforts, eventually to support veterans of all wars and to inculcate lessons of patriotism among children and communities. The Corps is still an active organization. Members do not have to have an ancestor who was eligible for membership on the GAR. (National Park Service)
