The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library cordially invites you to a Conference at 9.00 am on Thursday-Friday, 11-12 December, 2014 in the Seminar Room, First Floor, Library Building on ‘Social Justice as a Question of Empirical Sciences’ in association with Dr. K. V. Cybil, Christ College, University of Calicut, Kerala. Concept note: In places where forms of justice provided according to law is silent or absent, it is presumed that a supplementary form is substituted. This is often the idea behind ‘Social Justice’. This notion makes it not merely a trivial representation of justice, but takes it away from the cardinal points of knowledge about the modern state. It is not to an alternate theory or conception of justice that is being hinted at. It is in fact to a formerly displaced notion of justice that is couched inevitably in the form of injustice and hence inescapably raises questions of justice despite the mechanisms of law and governance that are made to modulate, if not silence it. Such instances as one encounters in daily life made unnoticeable by habit or practice of not noticing it. The fact that such instances more often than not constitute the points of agreement where disagreement becomes a mode of governmentality is an open secret most intimate to modern states.
