The Nets may not have the great record that most of the championship contenders have, but they are certainly starting to look like the team, that Brooklyn envisioned off having when they acquired Superstar Veteran SF Paul Pierce and PF/C Kevin Garnett, to have a possible shot at winning the championship. SF Paul Pierce scored 29 points while shooting 9-12 from the field, 4 rebounds, 5-7 from 3-point land and 6-7 from the free-throw line. Last Night, the Nets beat the Miami Heat for the 3rd time this season in another classic playoff game, coming down to the wired and having that crunch time feel to it. Superstar SF Paul Pierce proved last night, that he still has the fiery competitor inside of him, and he made sure that his team was going to beat his rival, Heat Superstar LeBron James. Pierce and James have always had that rivalry dating back to there Celtics-Cavaliers days, and its continuing with the Nets and Heat. Pierces Nets have gotten the best of Jamess Heat, and so far Brooklyn is having the edge every time, beating Miami at there own game, and winning those close playoff type games, that truly matter. Pierces nickname is the The Truth for a reason, he is a true leader, solid defender, scores whenever he teams needs him to, making a key play, and importantly he will knock down the clutch shot during crunch time. Every single time the Heat made a run, Brooklyn would go on a run of there own, showing great confidence, real believe and never giving up regardless the run Miami would make. Pierce scored 17 of his 29 points in the 3rd quarter, giving Brooklyn a chance to extend there lead. Pierce made a couple of critical plays down the stretch against the Heat, burying a clutch 3-pointer, attacking the basket and scoring a critical layup, to give Brooklyn the multiple times. Pierce did have help with the scoring situation, as PF Mirza Teletovic, who comes off the bench provided Brooklyn with a great spark, scoring two clutch 3-pointers in the 4th quarter and 3 block shots in the 1st half. Teletovic scored a season-high 17 points while shooting 6-11 from the field, 3 block shots, 4 rebounds, 3-5 from 3-point land and 2-2 from the free-throw line. The two starting guards for Brooklyn would close out the game, as Superstar PG Deron Williams and PG Shaun Livingston made the clutch plays down the stretch. Williams buries a pullup jumper to give Brooklyn a 4-point lead, but Miami would cut the lead to one, on a Bosh 3-point play. In the final seconds, Miami would have the opportunity to win the game, but Livingston breaks up the play set for LeBron James, gets the steal, runs out the clock, as the Nets stun the Heat for the 3rd time, by getting the 96-95 road victory. Brooklyn beats Miami for the 3rd time this season, and improve there record to 33-30, while the Heat fall to 44-18. Pierce had quiet 1st half, scoring only 7 points, but his 2nd half performance would be the difference the Nets needed to win the game. First, Pierce knocks down two free-throws, then The Truth dishes the pass to SG Marcus Thornton for the 3-point basket. Williams makes the pass to Pierce, then Pierce makes a great move to the basket, scoring the driving finger roll layup, and then Pierce buries the 3-point field goal, as the Nets and Heat are tied at 22 heading into the 2nd quarter. Pierce doesnt score in the 2nd quarter, but PF Mirza Teletovic, who comes off the bench for Brooklyn scores all of his 11 first half points in the 2nd period, as the Nets and Heat are tied at halftime. First, Teletovic blocks PF/SF Michael Beasleys shot, then Teletovic gets a pass from PF Andrey Blatche for the 3-point basket. Teletovic knocks down two free-throws, then Teletovic with a great block on Beasley once again. Teletovic buries the two-point jumper, then Teletovic gets the offensive rebound, scoring the layup basket. Teletovic plays great defense, blocking LeBron Jamess shot, then Teletovic tips in the bucket, as the Nets and Heat are tied at 42 by halftime. Pierce was incredible in the 2nd half, scoring 17 of his 29 points in the 3rd quarter, as the Nets have the lead on Miami, going into the 4th quarter. First, Pierce makes a great move to the basket, scoring the driving layup, then Williams finds The Truth for a 3-point basket. Pierce with a great post move on the his defender, scoring the banking bucket. The Truth gets a pass from Livingston, and Pierce buries a 3-pointer over LeBron James. Pierce knocks down 4-of-5 free-throws, then The Truth gets a pass from Williams, burying a deep 3-pointer, as the Nets take a 73-71 lead into the 4th quarter. Both Pierce and Teletovic make timely plays in the 4th quarter, helping Brooklyn keep there lead on Miami. First, Livingston makes the pass to Teletovic, then Teletovic steps back and buries the 3-point basket. Livingston makes the pass to Teletovic, then Teletovic knocks down a 3-pointer over LeBron James. Pierce with a great pump fake, then he buries a clutch 3-pointer. Pierce with another fake, but this time, he attacks the basket, scoring the driving layup, and gives Brooklyn the lead. Miami has one more chance to win in the final seconds, but Livingston breaks up the play, runs out the clock, as the Nets beat the Heat for the 3rd time, and get the 96-95 victory. It wasnt just Pierce and Teletovic that had great impacts in the game, as PG Shaun Livingston, makes the clutch defensive play for Brooklyn to win the game. Livingston also had 13 points while shooting 5-11 from the field, 3 steals, 4 assists, 7 rebounds and 3-3 from the free-throw line. PG Deron Williams buried a clutch jumper in the final minute to help Brooklyn extend there lead. Williams also had 6 points while shooting 2-8 from the field, 2 steals, 8 assists and 3 rebounds. PF/C Andrey Blatche had 11 points while shooting 5-10 from the field, 3 assists and 4 rebounds. Brooklyn out-rebounded Miami 37-33, and outscored them 36-34 in points in the paint as well.
