The New York Times learns what some of us already knew: Vancouver U.S.A., aka The Original Vancouver, always has been both a catalyst for, and an obstacle to, human progress. Meriwether Lewis said some mumbo-jumbo about The Couv being the only inhabitable spot west of the Rockies, with led those crazy Canadians to claim the land for the Queen and put a damper on domination by white Americans. Then Ewing Young and some crazy Americans said Hey! Look at us! We found a way to bypass the Chief Factor at Fort Vancouver and claim the Oregon Territory for Americans! After more than 150 years of chants of USA! USA!, were back to where we started. Who is going to prevail? The Canadians? The Americans? How about the human race?
