The New York Yankees fined Alex Rodriquez $153,846 today for missing a game and for seeking an outside opinion on his hip recovery. Now the first thing that you may be thinking is that that is a pretty steep penalty and that the Yanks are just sticking it to him. Well, I might agree that 153 grand is up there until I read the next line in the story. $153,846 is 1 days pay for the hapless and soon to be banished slugger. He will make $28,000.000 this year. Now I am not a mathematician, although I play one on FB, but to bring this into even more vomit worthy focus, that means that he makes $38,461.50 every time he steps to the plate. And to really ruin your dinner, he will probably see around 6 pitches on average per plate appearance which then equals out to a stomach churning $6,410.25 per pitch! I shoulda been a ball player.
