The New Yorks Finest are becoming the New Yorks Whiniest. - TopicsExpress

The New Yorks Finest are becoming the New Yorks Whiniest. After Ferguson, as the public anger erupted over police brutality especially against the coloured races and the poor in America and the public sentiment on police is quickly deteriorating, the leaders in NYPD are using the tragedy of these two slain police officers as a political countermeasure to maintain their power hegemony and status quo against any attempts to reform and restructure the current system in NYPD. Its childish, and it wont work — not this time. When I was in the Army, there always was this grumbling among some soldiers that the people did not appreciate the service members. I always found that sentiment childish and cheesy. No one told us to join the service. No one forced us, either. It was our choice and our choice alone to serve our country — whether or not we would be appreciated or understood by others for what we do for our country out of our sense of duty and love was the least concern for us, entering the service. We were fed, dressed, housed, compensated and benefited by the taxpayers. We owed them our livelihood. We entered into a profession of serving the people and the country by undertaking the duty of protecting the Constitution. If people did not appreciate us, had misconception about us or even hated us, it would make absolutely no difference in our resolve to carry out our duty. Most of the time, those who complained about not getting enough appreciation out there were only some whining bunch of idiots who neither had character nor clear sense of their duty. Once during the service years, I was in my full dress uniform, attending a civilian public function, and a bunch of young university students made some ridiculous, undeserving and even humiliating insults against me and my uniform. I did not respond to them but quietly took their verbal attacks. I understood where they were coming from. But at the same time, I also understood that my duty was to protect their Constitutional rights to freely express their discontent and hatred against what I and my uniform had represented to them. And that was the price I chose to undertake the moment I had sworn an oath to become a member of the Armed Forces of this country. Stop whining, NYPD. Entering public service — especially in the military or police forces — means at times this service would require the ultimate sacrifice. Soldiers are killed in the battles; police officers in the line of duty. Silently and faithfully undertake your duty without bragging or complaining. If you do not possess the intestinal fortitude to continue to humbly carry your duty in the service for the people in your community and — even worse — if by some unknown reasons a thought of you ruling and powering over the people you were tasked to serve entered your minds, it is clear that you have become nothing but a bunch of thugs and have chosen a wrong profession. If that is the case, turn your badges and guns in and leave the force. You do not deserve that uniform.
