The Next 36 reception for students (limited spaces) The Next 36 program is a program for aspiring entrepreneurs. Students who would like to attend a reception hosted by President Gertler on September 17, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, please send an intention to attend to uoftssas@gmail BY SUNDAY Saturday 6th 12 PM. At this event, students will have the opportunity to learn about Next 36, and meet current participants, as well as the founders of the program. The reception will be held on U of T St.George campus. The Next 36 is a national program that identifies promising Canadian university undergrads from any field of study and provides them with the resources required to become high impact entrepreneurs. The program is supported by some of Canada’s most prominent business leaders and offers a unique combination of education, mentorship, and seed investment for new ventures. Selected students are tasked with building mobile ventures in teams over the duration of the nine month program which includes the summer Entrepreneurship Institute “boot camp” in Toronto. At the culmination of the program, the teams pitch their business plans to investors and stakeholders from across North America. The Next 36 is interested in students with: - an entrepreneurial track-record - strong academic performance - strong leadership skills - the potential to build internationally significant organizations Eligible undergraduate students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents in their last two years of study (as of Fall 2014), or who have graduated within the past six months. An information sheet is attached for your reference and for further details, please visit: thenext36.ca. This past year, 11 of the 36 students selected were from the University. It would be great if we could increase the number of successful applications from the Faculty of Arts & Science. I would be very grateful if you could confer with relevant colleagues in order to identify promising undergraduate students whom you think would be a good fit for the program.
