The Nigerian Muslim Community in the United States of America have been enjoined to inculcate and promote the Quranic moral values and discipline as thought by Prophet Muhammad among their children. The call was made in a keynote address delivered by the Secretary General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Prof Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, at the Grand reception organized by the Masjidul-Mumineen of Houston Texas, United States of America, for Seven Nigerian-American citizens who completed the memorization of the entire Quran recently. The former Vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin, who was represented by Dr. Abu-Bakr Imam Ali-Agan of the Department of Religions, University of Ilorin, commended the efforts of the entire members of the Masjidul Muminieen for the spectacular achievement. He noted that in spite of the domineering and the attractive Western Culture, the Community is able to organize an Islamic training program for their children as characterized by the memorization of the Quran. He further urged the parents of the young Quran memorizers, whose age are between ten to thirteen years, to ensure that they are well connected with their roots in Nigeria. He noted that there is no place like home and that Allah did not make mistake for creating them as Blacks with their root in Nigeria. Prof. Oloyede also used the occasion to re assure the Nigerians in diaspora that the current insurgency in the Northern part of Nigeria has nothing to do with Islam which is synonymous with stability and mutual peaceful co existence. He noted that under the Islamic system of governance human lives is regarded as sacred which must be jealously protected by the State Functionaries, He emphasized that the Boko Haram insurgency is a product of lingering bad Educational planning, inept leadership, social insecurity and naked injustice which has permeated the political system in Nigeria for long. Special prayers was later offered for peace, stability and corporate existence of Nigeria as prosperous Nation. Three out of the seven young Quran memorizers are from Kwara state. Abdur Rahaman Abubakar and Abdul Muiz Attanda from Ilorin West local Government Area and Muhammad Oloruntomi Adeyemi from Aran-Orin in Irepodun Local Government Area of the State.
