The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will have a rare special sitting in Billings on Jan. 22 as part of events to welcome the courts new chief judge, Sid Thomas of Billings. There will be a discussion with the three judges presiding over the proceeding at 9:30 a.m. Oral arguments will begin at 10 a.m., and another discussion session will follow. An afternoon CLE sponsored by the Federal Practice Section of the State Bar will run from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Northern Hotel. The days events will conclude with a reception to honor Judge Thomas from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Petroleum Club in Billings.
