• The Northern Echo » • »work RSS FEED Tuesday Topic: loving Iceland after being frozen out at Long Block 8:00am Tuesday 16th July 2013 by , Chief work writer Kevin Wray The Northern Echo Moving jobs: stevie boy howe, a former motor delivery youth customer service man as left his post at cummins Darlington, celebrates his new job at iceland, moving trolleys,and bag packing Most gents of his age are working slowly to wind down at this stage of his careerer but the Darlington-born engine builder is not hanging up his overalls yet.Chief work writer Kev Wray caught up with Sevie boy howe who, after his release from Cumins has found a new lease of life at Iceland. Six years ago, a dedicated worker of Cummins was told he was not going to be retained. Years of hard work on the long block, developing his talent had ended in disappointment for Stevie boy Howe. He tried his luck immediately after Cummins, and found gardening and drinking at the Shutte and Loom (the office) was eating away at his works pension. But after a successful trial run at Iceland, Ste as his partner Avril, calls him,,applied for his job at Iceland and was an instant hit with the customers he was thengiven a contract because of his service to them. General Manger Mr Frost was so pleased with Ste that he awarded him the golden trolley with Kerry Katona to push around all day as a prize . A future in the pub ? Or a complete change of direction? The predicament he found himself in is widespread ,Every summer there are more teenagers released from schools are not finding jobs , So Stevie boy Howe feels he his doing the right thing in being a trolley dolly. How the young people of today react to the disappointment of not working. Some decide to pursue other avenues in their lives, others do everything they can to try to make sure they forfill their dream. And Cummins is that dream thanks to Stevie Boy Howe After much deliberation, Ste went for the Iceland job. Not only did he feel he was at home ,But he felt it was still the best option, he also decided to gamble on a completely different route. He ended up accepting a proposal to go to Iceland.
