The Norwegian magazine Seilas (Sailing) was publishing in the last number a problem that not so many are tacking serious? Protection of the sailboat against thunderstorm and lightening. As the article tells us is that yacht owners up in the north (Means: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Latvia and the rest of the Baltic Sea) Are not paying attention to the problem and are not protected against the powerful forces that are in work here. In the real life it’s not so much work to protect the boat and the crew, as the picture shows. We just have to do it. This summer S/Y Talisman in Stockholm was hit by the lightning and she burned the hole inside of the yacht, I can’t tell if she was protected or not? But it reminds me that it can happen! Also to mine yachts. The magazines Seilas make a good description of what to do to protect your boat against one of the most powerful forces in the nature.
