Why you might ask why, well its simple; weve always tracked our vehicles, but there has been a breakdown state to state and a delay in the officers responding to calls for service because the officer would have to enter the dispatch address into our computer map system or private GPS which took time and caused a communication breakdown between the officer, dispatcher and supervisor. Well no more.. Our brand new state of the art public Safety GPS tracking system combines the ability to independently track the patrol unit with an integrated GPS system and a state of the art Garmin GPS mapping system that you would might normally place on your dash. So why is this so special ? When a call comes in for service now the supervisor or dispatcher inputs the address and call information into our system, the supervisor or dispatcher then assigns that call to a patrol unit at which point the system places that call onto the Garmin (call type, priority level, and address), and automatically assigns the quickest route to the officer, assigns an ETA to the officer and dispatcher and tracks all information including the time the officer arrived on scene. All supervisors and dispatchers can now also track all patrol units via computer, laptop, smart phone and iPad devices; the system automatically sends out an alert if the officer is speeding, leaves the patrol unit running while parked, drives aggressively, leaves his assigned zone, and time stamps when the officer leaves, enters the community and how much time the officer was there for all automatically. If a consumer calls in now, we can now tell them where the officer is, their ETA, and communicate the call status and or updates directly to the officer all over our system without the officer saying a word and taking their attention away from the roadway.
