The Nyeri County Government is undergoing training by The Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (ICPAK) on the proper use of books of accounts in order to ensure transparency and accountability of funds. ICPAK sponsored the one day training which was held at the White Rhino Hotel in Nyeri town. The training is meant to enlighten the county government on how to manage the funds allocated to the county appropriately. Nebart Avutswa, an ICPAK official in charge of financial services said that the training included the business community and financial sector officials drawn from banks, saccos and insurance companies. Avutswa also enlightened the county government on the developments of the VAT Bill so as to ensure the county benefits from this. Samuel Mwaura, the Director of Grant Thornton urged the Kenya Revenue Authority to educate and provide additional information to the local community on the VAT Bill for them to understand it better. ICPAK has carried out similar trainings in Nairobi, Eldoret and Nyeri.
