The OBHS Black History Month 2015 Essay Contest The OBHS Black History Month 2015 Essay Contest is open to all students who will be attending a post secondary institution in 2015 - 2016. 2015 Themes - the 20th Anniversary of the Passing of the national declaration of February as Black History Month in Canada - the UN International Decade for People of African Descent (2015 - 2024) - Lincoln Alexander Day - impact of Black peoples in Canadian history on a local, provincial, national or international level Criteria - the student should show evidence that they have visited a Black Historical site or exhibit, researched archival records or library holdings or accessed/conducted an oral history interview - the student should show evidence of weighing historical significance, primary and secondary sources, continuity and change, cause and consequence, possible interpretations of the students chosen theme. - Max 750 words - Font: Times New Roman or Arial font size 10 Eligibility - is open to students who will be or who are attending a Canadian university or college in 2015 - 2016. Suite 402, Toronto, ON, M5C 1J3 on or before March 25, 2015 There will be 3 prizes awarded of $500 with other recognition including the opportunity to share (read) their essay at an awards reception in the Spring 2015 in Toronto.
